I've been on Adderall equivalents for years with quite a bit of success. However, the therapeutic effect has been strongly dependant on the brand, and I have recently run into a problem finding my original(most effective) brand.
I HAVE TAKEN:
"Abrika" brand: Passed off at the pharm as "brand name." VERY unmedicinal with lots of nervousness and peripheral effects.
Barr's generic: Taking this now. Weak effect of short duration, but effective enough for now. Has a mild, but anti-therapeutic, "after-effect" of tightness and jitters setting in within 2 hours of a dose.
My original brand, of mystery origin, which was very centrally potent and lasted longer than any amphetamine product is supposed to(12 hours). Concentration and wake state promoting effects were dramatic with no increases in pulse/blood pressure at 10mgs. My extreme (positive) response seemed to puzzle my psych guy.
DESCRIPTIONS:
Abrika: small, low on fillers, tightly packed, more pill-like than tablet-like. 10mg tabs are consistently dyed-blue with no "specks." Bitter taste. No scoring. Disintegrates in sun on car dash(Yes, a test, I'm getting to it). Shire's online pictures look like it as far as I can tell.
Barr: flatish, oval tablets, heavy on excipients, sweatened with saccharin. When these are filled they are glazed, but the cover glaze breaks down within three weeks despite lack of significant oxygen/heat exposure. Scored lightly across the middle. Broken tabs reveal white "specks" in the blue filler(taken to be the amphetamines). Becomes rough and chalky on hot dash, and falls apart when then handled.
Mystery "super Adderall": Large compared to Abrika, round but compressed in each side, not spherical or of oval shape. Broken tablets sow "specks." Bitter taste, not sweetened. *deeply scored* in the middle with a cross-shaped pattern allowing a four-way division of tablets. PERHAPS IMPORTANT - I accidentally left this in the car for a prolonged time, but the tablets remained strongly intact with no crumbling or notable change. These were firmly glazed on the outside, and the glaze did not appear altered from heat. Broken tablets revealed "rough" internal material compared to smooth outter glaze. Standard blue dye for 10mg dose.
Now, I'm desperately hoping some one here can tell me what this brand was. I long ago threw out the bottles for this and can only find Barr/Shire versions online. The mystery generic was definitely Adderall, as evidenced by the color scheme(plus that's what the doc perscribed). I've love to have this back if I can special order it through the pharmacy. If I quit the Barr and then go back after two days or so, I get a "adjustment period" of jitters, whereas skipping it seemed to make the other one even more potent. Plus the amount of the Barr stuff I'm perscribed now would last probably two months if it were this brand.
Maybe this was verbose(Where's the Depakote...), but this issue has been irritating and perplexing to me. I'm crossing my fingers that this isn't some now-discontinued generic, since I was perscribed it years ago.
Anyone know what the brand is?
