have been on several meds and on zyprexa now. what i notice most is that the intensity/drive has minimalized while on this med. the creativity is there, it's just that it's like i have to lure the creativity or ideas out. when i'm not on it it comes like tidal waves, however that's not necessarily good. i quickly turn to dysphoric mania and though i spurt out tons of ideas i don't accomplish completion on any of them and infact have destroyed a few 'good ones' because they seemed way to low level or that "no one will get it cuz they're all too stupid".
So let your son know that he may be used to his creativity just spewing out of him, and on his medication he has to guide it, move With it instead of it moving him.
if he is truly creative, it is always in him. he may need to learn a new way of connecting/retrieving it though.
Trust me, when i say it's much better to be on meds that work than not.
it Won't wash away his creativity.
Best wishes
b2c.
