There was a thread on this subject a while ago...I think the consensus was that while there are serotogenic receptors in the gut, they are not likely to be the cause of weight gain. The mechanism is more likely to be on overall metabolic regulation occurring in the brain.
It is most likely to be complex, because some SSRIs cause weight gain, whereas others don't typically and in fact can lead to appetite loss and anorexia.
Just MHO.
