I haven't been on Effexor, but I do take Ambien. I am a person w/ anxiety issues too and I find the Ambien to be very relaxing. I love it. I may name my first child Ambien. Just kidding. But seriously, if it is what your doc suggests, it might be helpful. I know that it was for me.
