I agree that in Canada we are much slower in making new drugs available to the public. Perhaps Canadians are too conservative or overly cautious. Another thing I find, although my experience is limited, is that I don't think pdocs in Canada are as creative in terms of augmenting strategies and prescribing off-label. That may just be my own narrow experience, however.
