I have been taking neurontin for anxiety for nine years. The dose has been slightly increased over time, being on 2100mg/day for some time. It works very well for me, but over the past year, I noticed slight pain under my right rib cage each time I took a dose. I decided to stop taking it, and tapered off over five days. after being totaly off the drug for three days, I experenced horrible withdrawl symptoms, worse than when I stopped xanax years before. Becoming concerned, I took a 300mg capsule which because of my GABA starved system, made it worse to the point of being on a bad LSD trip. I was forced to aquire some valium, which enhanced what little GABA was in my system, so I could again ingest my regular amount of neurontin. 5 days after taking my regular dose, Im starting to feel my old self. Neurontin stimulates the brain to prouduce extra GABA. Unfortunatly, after taking neurontin for a while, when you stop, your
whole system becomes depleted of GABA,and depending on the person, experiences withdrawl.
Has anyone else had a proublem stopping neuronton, and mabey have some advice for safely tappering off this drug?
