> I am so annoyed with everything right now I am ready to stop all meds. I took Lexapro for 4 months, gained weight, still depressed, so doc started me on Wellbutrin XL almost 3 weeks ago. I don't know if the withdrawl from Lex or the initial 2 weeks on Wellbutrin did it, but I have been dizzy, depressed, exhausted, and cranky with a constant headache. Now as a complimentary bonus, I am itching something fierce all over (it moves around - very bizarre)but there is no visible skin irritation or rash. Is there anyone out there who can give me some hope with this medication? I feel like I am destined to be miserable forever, but at least without meds I can do it for free. I did not read side effects intentionally from the beginning so that I wouldn't acquire them mentally. I am going to freak out.
I'd disagree with the other poster. Most likely, it's the Wellbutrin start-up effects more than it is the Lexapro withdrawl effects. Most of these side effects I have experienced on my own when I have tried it.A trial of 2-3 weeks is recommended to see how much of the side effects will dissipate with time. So you'll have to stick with it until then if you want to see if you'll adapt.
A lot of people use it as an augmentor to lower dose of an SSRI/SNRI. And from my perspective it seems they have a better success with antidepressant efficacy that way. The SSRI will also probably offset a little of the Wellbutrin anxiety as well.
