If you have had narcotic problems in the past you have to be aware of any mind altering drugs legal/illegal. Most narcotics after long term use, permanately alter your brains chemicals. Your ups and downs before and after med use may increase or decrease your need for drug use. my brother is a recovering drug /alcohol addict and takes Zoloft. HE has a harder time than expected.

That said, there are some thigns you haved to understand.

I am assuming by the word narcotics you are referring to cocaine and other 'white' powder drugs. Any drugs including alcohol will have chemical interactions with your body. My understanding is that your liver is busy processing the meds, which is kind of tough and hard on the body, but a healthy person can handle them fine. When you add drugs into the mix, they have to go through your liver too. DOing the math, your body has to work harder.

Finally, I think the biggest worry, speaking from Paxil use and the experience from my brother's zoloft use, is the mood fluctuation. Paxil makes you pretty monotone interms of emotions. Kind of sucks, but it does stabilize your mood. Taking a drug is either going to enhance your mood or depress it. Which ever way, it will stabilize when the drug wears off. The rebounding and ups and downs may hurt more and may give you that needy feeling to use. May not be the same for everyone, but hope this helps.
