Must be some sort of exclusive club, guys. Except for right now -- long story -- I've been sleeping better on Provigil than ever before in my life. Works better than Xanax or ativan for getting me to sleep at night. It also seems to calm my anxiety a great deal.

Chemist mentioned to me that he'd come across a study saying that Provigil only works 'right' if your central alpha-adrenergic system is intact. It could be that the same problems with the limbic-hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis that is involved in depression also affects the effects of Provigil. It's worth looking into, although I'm not sure it's worth it to any of us. (For me, though, the sedation is pretty slight, and the circumstantial anxiety was so great, that I'm hanging onto this drug with both hands!)

If it helps, jeremy, I have had a few days to a week or so of speediness when starting Provigil, too. And, I've now started a couple of times.

Someone else may -- I hope -- chime in with the drug interaction answer, though, because the other drugs I've taken with it have really effected the way I react to it. It may be that, once you're up to speed on the Effexor -- pardon the unintended pun -- the Provigil may work differently for you. While it's now calming me, as the only drug I'm on at the moment, with Prozac it had me out of my skin agitated, actively suicidal because of it. And, with other drugs, I was too speedy to function at all. There is definitely some drug interaction potential with the stuff.

Best luck, whatever happens. (And I found Effexor mostly activating, myself. It may be that you won't need anything else if it kicks in for you.)
