Topamax---does one need to taper off??

I'm changing meds to Zonegran--should Topamax be tapered off? I remember slowly increasing the dose, wondered if it needed to be decreased before discontinuing (guess I'd better call the pharmacist!!) But I'd like to know if anyone has EXPERIENCED it. thanks
