Memantine for depression and anxiety

Has anybody used this anti-dementia drug for depression? My P-Doc was thinking about trying it on me but I'm a little hessitant. I'm only 21 and I'm kind of scared of the long term effects. but if anybody has had a profound remission from it I'm willing to take the chance.
