this is an interesting question. i don't know whether doctors are more likely to prescribe benzos based on their age. i've wondered about the pdoc's treatment style/orientation, and i've been very surprised. for awhile, i saw a psychopharmacologist, who i assumed would be willing to give me benzos since i clearly needed them. she gave me, like, 1mg of ativan a day, which did absolutley nothing. my last two doctors have both been psychoanalysts. i assumed that since they had so much therapy training, they would be anti-med, but surprisingly, they have done better handling my meds than any of the other doctors i've seen. they also don't seem to be afraid of the controlled substances. i'm currently on 4mg/day of xanax and 2mg/day of klonopin. who would've guessed? i'm curious to hear others' stories.
