> Iv been on Remeron for 2 yrs now. Remeron i can say is a very interesting drug. But the hunger and increase in appetite is a killer, esp 1 hr after you take it, i have to pig out before i go to sleep. So my doc took me off remeron, and put me on elavil 50mg.
> Well, so far, i take it, and has little or no effect. And in the pharmacology book, they seem to be similar, Remeron is a bit more potent on the histamine receptor. And there is no hunger with elavil. So, i decided to take 1mg of klonopin with it, and it helped. But i plan on stopping elavil next doc visit to tr some ambien. I like the fact that ambien works very fast, basically knocking you out, but i tend to wake up 4-6 hrs later, needing another dose or at least a half of dose. Im gonna give it a try again, becuase i was using when i was on ambien.

Low Dose TCA's for sleep:
Amitriptyline is actually alot weaker as an antihistamine than Remeron. Doxepin is much closer to Remeron & just as cheap as Ami. 25mg of Doxepin would be a good start.

High Dose TCA's for depression:
Amitriptyline is the TCA that anglo-saxon pdocs have the most experience with, but Clomipramine is probably the pick of the bunch.

Cheers,
Panda.
