I know most AD's don't list side effects of affecting ears, but they sure are with me. I have tried Effexor, Evavil, St. John's Wort and Wellbutrin and they all have reaked havok on my ears.
I already have pre-existing tinnitus that is not very loud. All these AD's make the tinnitus much louder. Even worse than that, they make my ears feel like they are infected, cause hypersensitivity to where I can hear computers and tv's buzzing loudly, my nose run, ears pop and make my jaw crack.
I talked to a pharmacist today at work who said they are most likely affecting a blood vessel of some sorts and that most will probably have this same effect.
Some I am wondering if anyone else has experience this or has heard of something that does not effect the ears?
She said that I should be a little concerned with damaging my ears while on these AD's. All 3 of the AD's are also multiplying anxiety (which I normally don't really have) at incredibly rates when I am on them and make me feel almost none functionally depressive, basically completely out of it and I have no lack of concentration.
When I stop them, these symptoms go away after about 10 days and I am almost back to normal but not quite. It honestly feels like these AD's deplete my seretonin.
5HTP has been the only thing that I have taken that makes me feel better and triggers my sleep, so I definitely think my feelings are seretonin related. But I am concerned about taking 5HTP for too long because of unknown toxins (peak X) and anything else that might cause serious side effects.
I am almost unwilling to try any other AD's because I feel like they have similar chemical profiles that are all distiburing my ear function in serious ways as well as CAUSING much worse depression and severe anxiety.
Any thought on any of my comments or symptons is very much appreciated. Thanks!
