Next closest thing to Remeron??

I have always been opposed to taking AD's until my doctor talked me into trying 15mg a day of REMERON. I finally felt like I had my old life back(the one prior to the depression) and the best part was I had no side effects. This made me feel as if I was naturally getting better as I couldn't even tell I was taking any medication. UNTIL I realized I was experiencing a side effect that ended up being the reason I had to discontinue using REMERON: Significant weight gain!
Has anyone else had a similar positive experience on REMERON and if so, are you aware of what the next closest medication is to REMERON???(less the nasty weight gain side effect?)
