am currently experiencing the SSRI withdrawal syndrome from coming off of Lexapro too quickly.
I had bascially the same with the withdrawal from Paxil, only this is not as severe. Same things though:
brain swooshy zaps when moving my eyes and head,
veritgo/dizziness, fatique, irritability, headaches, hot flashes/sweats.3 weeks ago I had run out it, then the pharamcy ran out of it, which prolonged my prescription being refilled for 3 days. I suddenly developed
a vision problem in one eye (vision blockage and
'flashy lights' stuff, which I thought may have been due to the Lexapro somehow. I went ahead and started taking it again but experienced the side effects it produces. I had not experienced these side effects when I initially got on it in Jan./Feb. so this was weird! The side effects (very bad gas (wierd I know), heartburn, indigestion, low sex drive, irritability) combined with my new knowledge that it gave me the withdrawal syndrome and my sudden partial vision blockage, made me decide to discontinue taking it. I went down from 10mg, to 5 for a few days then to 2.5 for a few days then stopped.
Now, about 2 weeks later I am having really bad vertigo and 'eye motion zaps/swooshes'.I don't know whether to go back to 2.5 mg for a few weeks and brave the side effects of taking it again or weather out the SSRI withdrawal effects since I am off of it. Catch 22 if ever!!
Oddly enough when it was prescribed, it worked very quickly to alieve depression and I thought it was great!
Anyone done this? Any advice appreciated.
(sorry for the repost, not sure it would be see above)
