Hello there CC. At the dose of Remeron you are taking (15mg) you will feel very sleepy and dizzy, even during the day - hours after you have taken it. A lot of people (me included) have found success on higher dosage (I take 45mg). I rarely get dizzy spells or sleepiness during the day now. The leg swelling (which had been a problem for me)and the EXTREME irritability that I had to begin with, has also gone after a week on 45mg. You seem to be getting irritable and that might be a side effect of the low dose. In my opinion, you should hang in with Remeron and when you get checked out for the ear/throat infection, ask your doc if you can go up to 30 or 45mg of Remeron. You don't have to do this gradually. I was ready to quit Remeron 7 days after starting on the lower dose cuz of the same side effects (plus more!), but switching to 45mg has made a HUGE difference to me. I hope it will help you too. By the way, I am from the UK and they do have Lithium , but I don't think a regular GP doc would like to prescribe it. It is used for Bi-polar disorder and is sometimes used alongside anti-depressants. The way you write your posts makes me also think you might fit the criteria for Borderline Personality Disorder too. Of course, I'm no Psychiatrist! But here are a couple of links to follow where you can read up on Borderline Personality Disorder and Bi-Polar. You might find something there you relate to. Have a look around. Best of luck to you! Take care of yourself.
