hi jackie,
i am so sorry you're having such a rough time ... i, along with everyone else here, continue to pull for you ... ... and wish you well ... and pray.
> Hello everyone, I'm at day 31, one week ago, I increased my dose from 10 to 15mg. This morning I woke up nauseous, and then threw up. This is the second episode. A few years ago, I tried celexa, and had to stop because of nausea and vomiting. Has anyone else experienced this? I have to call my pdoc, I've put up with alot of SE's so far, but this is where I throw in the Lexapro towel...Please respond!?! Jackie
i want to thank Ame san Vie for her useful suggestions .... much better than than my lame cheerleading when you're fighting nausea .... i haven't suffered nausea from lex.
do try to protect yourself from nausea-induced dehydration ... ... avoiding dehydration is for our overall health, but dehydration is even worse for making SEs worse including perpetuating more nausea ... ... as well as subverting your electrolytes, which can then undermine your neurotransmitters ... .... all of which conspire to make a bad situation even worse .... so try to drink as much as you can without ... you get the picture.
and of course this nausea is trying to force you to face the bigger issue here:
"Should Jackie quit Lexapro?"
(knowing you are a good mom, it is even more discouraging to feel wretched AND crazed AND need and want to care for your 2 and 8 yr-olds and your other family/home responsibilities ... AND then to have puking added to the other SEs you're suffering .... i really feel for you "zombieMommie"!)
my prejudice is that i want to tell you to not quit ... ... that's my mission .. ... i'll not hide my agenda nor pull my punches here ... ... my cards are face up
(.... because i couldn't fool you if i wanted to ... ... you know me ... lil' jimi, one of our pro-lex poster children ...)
.... even so, this could be the beginning of the end for lex for you ... ... .. seems like i read here that one guy went 10 weeks with nausea everyday before he had to give up ... ... no one should have to endure that .. ... i couldn't ... wouldn't.... .... and it is not impossible that you have begun down that path ... ... this is where i begin doing my praying for you ... ...
... that lex may be kinder to you than it was for him ... .....{isn't this the most discouraging way to be ... encouraging, Jim?) ... sorry: new tune
given that we may expect it is more than just possible that the nausea may pass by tomorrow or the next day (??), and given the your current not inconsiderable investment in enduring the initial SEs so far, continuing lexapro for the short term makes sense ... ... at least for a day or two?
(occurs to me that it may make sense, what with the sensitivity you're experiencing, to try increasing your doseage much more slowly: maybe 12.5mg for a week; 15mg the next week; then maybe 17.5mg ... ... ... you should certainly discuss this with your doc, who might offer some other treatment for your nausea ... ... couldn't hurt to give the pharmacist a call, see what they have to suggest, too.)
my last agrument for hanging in there with the lex: .... to avoid withdrawals, you will have to decrease your doseage slowly and then you're faced with going through something like this ... ...all over again ... ... with some different med, which will come with all of its own problems.
jackie, i just don't feel like this has been as good at supporting you as i wanted ..... sorry ..... please keep us as informed as .... you can ...
... and see if you can try that ginger, Ame suggested!TAKE CARE !!!!
