Fainting on Parnate, will Nardil be different?

Posted by zarathustra on May 14, 2003, at 20:21:43

Aproximately 6 months ago, I was on Parnate 20mgs, B.I.D. It was effective, however I experienced severe dizziness when standing from sitting or lying regardless of my diet. This became so severe that I ended up in the hospital after fainting about 5 times in an hour. I had drank about 3 coffees that day, so I was likely my fault. Regardless, I frequently felt dizzy when I followed a strict diet. Also headaches were frequent.
I have restarted taking parnate as I am very depressed again. I am taking only 20mgs right now and have been doing so for about a week. Yesterday I fainted; no coffee, no cheese.
I normally experience healthy blood-pressure and I am otherwise healthy.
I really dont want to stop taking parnate as it works very well but I cant go on with the insomnia, headaches and fainting.
Is Nardil much different? Will I experience a similar side effect profile? I have tried all of the traditional drugs before (ssri, tricylclics etc etc)but they had no effect or refused to work after I discontinued them briefly (paxil was absolutely AMAZING)but I stopped taking it after I was feeling better; It never worked again :-(

Please help :-)

Andrew
