In reply to 1st time Zoloft user: can I start with 100mg?, posted by Rocket Jackson on April 24, 2003, at 13:24:23
> I am considering the use of Zoloft for SP, and have learned from multiple sources that at least 100mg seems to be most effective without the fatigue associated with lower doses. But I'm wondering if I need to start first with 50mg and then titrate up after a week, or go ahead and start with the 100mg. Anyone have experience with this?

I would not do that. Some dumb GP started me off at 50 mg and I had horrible s/e's that turned me off to Antidepressants for months even though I definitely needed them. I then started out on low doses and was able to move up to very high doses. I would definitely start on 25, the recommended starting dose, for a few days, move to 50 for a little while then go to 100. By the way, everyone's dosages vary, 100 may or may not work for your phobia, maybe 25 will work or maybe 200 will work or zoloft may not work at all.JACK
