Thanks Max, I see your point-Yes-I take 75mg Effexor-XR, 100-200mg Seroquel, 2mg Klonopin, and 25mg Lamictal to start. My psychiatrist suggested I take Lithium-but I cannot-because it is a salt and will make me gain more weight-I just can't. I tried Depakote and I was losing more hair in the shower than normal and I gained 30Lbs in 1 month due to my appetite increasing. I hear you about Lamictal NOT taking care of the manic part of bipolar, and I KNOW the EFFEXOR is making me manic-it always did and that's why my depression improved-however, I either need to go back on Celexa or cut the dose of Effexor down, and still take Lamictal-because the Lamictal has done wonders for me in the past.
If these manic feelings don't get better after restarting this Effexor-yes I am going to call my doc. I woke up this am- with restless legs big time-mania. After taking the Effexor at night. I started taking it at night about 5 days ago, and I can see this happening in the am more now-it's a double-edged sword. If I take Effexor in the am-I am too manic to sleep-if I take it in the pm-I have the restless leg syndrome in the am. UGHH
Anyway, yes your post helped and I thank you.

Kristen,

Taking a look at the number and the nature of your posts, you are obviously having a hard time. I sympathize with you. I don't know your Dx but I suggest you call your doctor/psychiatrist as soon as possible!!!

Anyway, is this what you take? - Effexor - Klonopin - Seroquel - Lamictal.

No. I take myself Lamictal (300 mg) but it is used in the treatment and prevention of the bipolar depression only. Lamotrigine is not effective in the manic phase. So in other words, you need a mood stabilizer (along with Lamotrigine) like Lithium or Depakote to stabilize your mood and put a cap on the manic phase. Of course this is conditional to the bipolar illness only.
