> Funny thing is, Beardy, I don't know what the slang term is. All I have called them is 'the police' - at work among coworkers & among my friends. We have municipal or city police, & then we have the federal who are the RCMP. Even in my young, drug taking days, I've never had anything but good & helpful experiences with them, & seen a real sense of humour among many of them.

Even us "country bumpkins" all the way down here in Aussie-land know that the the Canadian police ride around on horses all day wearing bright red jackets and that they are called "Mounties" by all and sundry the world over :) :). Like yourself I am deeply offended by derogatory terms used for the police and can never feel comfortable using any of these terms. Like you I have nothing but respect for police officers and the VERY difficult job they have to perform.... usually under the spotlight of a very unsympathetic media. As a matter of interest the police service in the city where I live has a mounted division and people really love watching pairs of mounted police patrolling the city streets. It's great seeing the looks of wonder in the eyes of small children (you can include me in this description) as they ride past.
I have added a link to a web site run by an individual police officer in Australia that provides links to the various police services that operate in and around Australia. There are also some links to worldwide police departments included. If you look "really hard" down the page you will even see a link to the homepage of "Royal Canadian Mounted Police". see http://members.iinet.net.au/~oneilg/police/index.html.
By the way, another thing that I forgot to add to my list regarding my posting name is that the police in Australia are also affectionately referred to as "The Boys (and Girls) in BLUE". So you can see that the word "blue" is used in many contexts that are significant in Australia which again is part of the reason that I chose my particular posting name.
I am home sick again today with a very solid viral infection/dose of the flu. Can anyone tell me whether there are any negative drug interactions between Prozac, Diazepam and Paracetemol. I have been holding off trying for some relief from my symptoms with some Paracetemol because I don't want to discover there is some horrible interaction between my Prescription meds and Paracetemol.
Thanks and warm regards
