> What a scarey sounding name, trileptal!! Does anyone know trileptal's method of action. I can't seem to get any good reference material on it. It does'nt seem to fall into the same category as neurontin, lamictal and gabitril as having gabba inhibition action. Or am I incorrect?

Lawrence, it is a sodium ion channel antagonist, with some calcium-channel ion antagonism too. It is most closely related to Tegretol's mechanism. I haven't found it to be very anxiolytic. In fact, it makes me a bit "wired". But, that is helping me stay awake in the daytime and it seems to have an antidepessant effect, and seems to "clear my head" to some degree. I only take 150mg a day (75mg/bid). Any more and I find it too nauseating and activating.
