Hi johnj-
I was on nortryptyline about 7-8 years. Sometimes I could taper it off and be without for up to a year. That's not true now. I didn't have problems with exercise. What kind do you mean? At the dose I mostly needed I needed to sleep 10 hours a night to feel rested. With kids, that was very difficult to get! Then after it started to poop out (got more feelings of depression) my doc suggested an SSRI instead, since a higher dose would not have been tolerable with the amount of sleep I needed. To get off, I just tapered down over about 10 days. I had some stomach cramps and headache, but it was tolerable. Then started the SSRI when at 25mg of nortr. I haven't tried any other TCA's, nortryp was the first medication.
Hope this helps!> HI Smokey,

Sleep has been horrible. How long did it take for the nortr to poop out on you? I started taking it at 27 years of age and that was 10 years ago. I can't seem to excercise which is very frustrating. Could you tell me if you tried any other TCA's and HOW did you get off nortryptline?
