Severity of Mental Illness and SSD

Posted by judy1 on December 12, 2002, at 10:46:31

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I got the impression from a previous thread that 'anxiety' disorders aren't considered severe enough for SSD. If your disorder is preventing you from leaving your home to work I would consider that pretty severe and qualifying for aid should be pretty straight forward. If your shrink recommends it then I would certainly go with his suggestion. The goal of your shrink or therapist is to help you get back into society and lead a normal life, but until that time if you need to avail yourself of help then please do. OK, said my piece:-)- judy
