Effexor- What is the half life?

What is the half life and do you recommend splitting up the doses (i.e. half the dose in the morning and half in the afternoon)? I've only been on Effexor XR for 8 days (just started 75mgs today), but noticed a lull or laziness about every two hours, which begs the question...is it better to take it twice a day? Thanks!!!!
