I don't know what you're taking the Vicodin for, but not every body who uses narcotic pain killers gets addicted; I took a ton of demerol for six months when my face was reconstructed and just quit when I didn't need it any more. Same with Vicodin, whose lovely glow bathes my bones even now. Knee surgury, my last, hurray! But really, the wanting more and more is a bad sign, and you need to suck it up and talk to the doc if you think it's a problem. Which you do, because you're asking.
I know nothing about detoxing but I do know about pain management. You need to find out about NSAIDS, icing, physical therapy, the list goes on for alternatives to narcotics. Many of these actually promote healing as well; narcotics are best for immediate post surgury/ post trauma, but the farther out you go, the better anti inflammatories and ice and physical therapy are. You can still have good analgesia without Vicodin, and it sounds like you need to move on from it.
Good luckMiss Liz
