If someone has a poor immune system they can die of the flu. Which is to say, if your system was gradually going towards depression, whenever the stress hit, whatever it was, it was bound to make everything worse. Would all this have happened without that? Probably, but maybe not as soon.
As you might have read from my other posts, I had mild depression then got anxiety, then bipolar, then ADD, etc, lots of diagnoses and finally I am physically ill with hormonal problems that my pdoc says most likely accounts for much of my past psychiatric history. If you haven't had screening hormonal tests (besides thyroid), ask for them. Urine free cortisol and insulin and testosterone and for women also estrogen, prolactin, and FSH (and testosterone).
Ignore that bit if you've heard me say it before, LOL.
