In reply to Celexa withdrawl progress report please read!, posted by genelo on June 23, 2002, at 7:34:03

Oh, I hope things get better soon. I was on Celexa too and had a rough time getting off of it. About 4-6 days after each time I reduced the dose, or stopped, I had a backlash of depression and generally bad feelings. But the depression did subside. You will be able to get off of it! My theory about the sleep it that since Celexa causes you to have more available seretonin, which also means more available meletonin, so when you decrease the Celexa, you also temporarily decrease the seretonin and melatonin. That is probably what causes the sleeplessness. Meletonin is involved with causing sleep. Is this helpful?
