ACE Inhibitors like Ramipril and statins like Lipitor seem to be gaining reputations as wellness and life-extending wonder-drugs of the 00's, even for people without high blood pressure or high cholesterol.
And there's evidence that the benefits go well beyond the well-documented cardiovascular and endocrine effects. For exampe, retrospective studies (not placebo-controlled) suggest a huge reduction in Alzheimers risk with Statins.
I've seen a handful of references to possible anti-anxiety and anti-depression effects of some ACE Inhibitors, but what has really caught my eye are animal studies showing memory enhancement from sustained ACE Inhibitor use. It appears angiotensin may somehow impact memory fuction.
Has anyone who has used ACE Inhibitors for awhile noted that their memory has improved? Or that it has stayed sharp even when using, say, SSRI's, benzos, or anti-psychotics? Conversely, has anyone experienced significant psychotropic-induced (or age-related, for that matter) memory loss while using ACE Inhibitors?
