But, I do experience a spacey feeling and am definately not as mentally sharp. Anybody have any ideas on how to combat this? I really like the sleep remeron gives me. I was hoping the sleep would rejuvinate me, but I am still tired. Is upping the dose the answer? Maybe Sam-e might be a good idea?

I personally dont think there is anyway to really get around Remeron's sedating side effect profile. I have been on Remeron up to 45 mg and I found it the same at 45 mg as it was at 15 mg. I dont believe this thing about Remeron being more stimulating at 45 than 15 mg. Remeron is inherently sedating, no matter which way you look at it. I personally liked this drug and actually didnt find it to be all that sedating, but then again when I took it three years ago I had very agitated depression, lots of akathesia and stuff like that. Remeron pretty much fixed that problem for me.

I agree Remeron is awesome for sleep. I found Remeron knocked me out stone cold the first night I took it and I had SEVERE insomnia previous to that. Not even half a mg of Risperdal taken at bedtime would knock me out...but give me 15 mg Remeron and it was lights out 30 minutes later. Man, talk about relief!!

I guess you could try adding some Wellbutrin SR to it for some activation during the daytime. I did this combo once, 45 mg Remeron combined with 300 mg Wellbutrin SR. I was still depressed as dirt though. But youd probably be different than me.

The other thing you could do is switch to another AD which gives you good sleep, but is not as sedating as Remeron. Serzone is one, its not as sedating as Remeron, another is Luvox. You take Luvox at bedtime like Remeron and it tends to be good for sleep, although not as sedating as Remeron. Luvox is also good for anxiety like Remeron is.

I think if I retried Remeron now, Id find it too sedating for me than three years ago. Also, do you drink coffee? LOL
