Hi Elizabeth.

It is my recollection (dubious, of course) that buspirone was originally investigated as an antidepressant. One thing that seems to escape people's attention is that the primary metabolite (1-PP?) of buspirone and the other azapirones (gepirone, ipsapirone) is a potent NE alpha-2 antagonist as is Remeron. I'm wondering to what degree this contributes to its antidepressant properties. My spelling might be off.
