It may depend how you body metabolizes the imipramine ...... if you have high levels of imipramine and low levels of the one metabolites, desipramine, it will probably be sedating. I myself had low levels of imipramine and high levels of desipramine and found the drug activating. I think the higher the level of desipramine in the body, the more activating. And desipramine is much more activating that pamelor.
