I am looking for info on a med that enhances any benzo action, or prolongs it. Now, I know some benzos remain higher in the system through metabolism when taken with Serzone. But, I can't tolerate Serzone, even in very small doses.I have thought of using a good Buspar dose with a benzo (I take Effexor XR and Nortriptyline). I may be one of the few who has had a nice effect from Buspar at times, and I recall a few times after being under much stress, I would take my evening Buspar dose with a benzo, feel really good, and yes...it did some nice stuff for my sexual appetite too. :-) (My g/f at the time was happy, I must say;-) I would awake the next day a happy guy:-)
For anxiety, I would say a low dose antidepressant, Buspar + Benzo may be quite powerful. But, with all of this damn stigma around benzo's, it seems people are getting forced to take all sorts of weird meds (like just Buspar alone, which I think is worthless), as well as atypical antipsychotics, which I don't seem harm in using, but they do very, very, VERY little with chronic and acute forms of anxiety and panic. They are very helpful for those in an acute mania, and maybe aggitated depression, but I would still go with maintenance benzo's. You know that feeling after taking an extra couple of Xanax..:-) No, not everyday, but to me benzos can "restart" me in crappy times. It's almost like I fall in love, like this happy-go-lucky guy who loves anything and everything. (Which is, really, my personality!) Much like the experience people report when taking E. I hate this anti-drug propoganda, but I would think benzo's to may be a bit less toxic than E, so I guess I am lucky. Now, if only I can hit my doc up for long term maintenance benzo's.
