I have heard something similar to what you wrote - I have heard that Celexa is the "cleanest" in terms of it being very narrowly focussed (more than other SSRI's) on Serotonin, and because of this it's supposed to have the least side effects.

I started taking it a few months ago, with high hopes based on these things I'd heard. Well, it proved to be a big disappointment for me. It worked minimally to lift me out of depression and *did* have side effects, which like what you mentioned, did NOT dissipate in time as side effects often do. The side effects I got were bad headaches (which I rarely get), felt very foggy-headed, tired, and just dull, dull, dull.

I have heard of others who've had what you describe in terms of chest pains and muscle pressure.

On the flip side, I know of people who do great on Celexa and love the stuff. Just adds to the well-known fact that what works for one person may not for another, and so forth and so on. Our mileage varies!

So, I really don't know if Celexa could be considered "safer" than Luvox (which is one of two SSRI's I'm considering going on).

BTW, I THRIVED for years on Paxil and may go back on it soon (it's either that or Luvox).

The only thing I have heard about Luvox is that it is sedating. You're the first person I've read from on here who has even had any real experience with Luvox - you said that you I tolerate luvox better - what about sedating effect- do you find that Luvox makes you more drowsy/sleepy?
