I also have dysthymia along with anxiety. I take Celexa, SAM-e, and Kava with very good results. I tried Serzone once but it didn't help me. But I was not on it long enough and on a high enough dose to give it a fair trial. The advantage of Serzone is that it doesn't cause sexual side effects. But if it doesn't work after 12 weeks or so, maybe you should try a different antidepressant.
> I just recently realized that I have been suffering from dysthymia. I never felt really depressed just mildly unhappy and was always looking forward to the next stage in life. I had refused to go on medication because I was determined to beat this on my own, but alas, it proved to be stronger. So in mid Oct. I began taking Serzone. I found that initially I suffered from headaches, fatigue and at one point seemed to make my depression worse. So the doctor boosted my dosage to 400 mg before bed and now I seem to be doing pretty. My first question is this, Has anyone been in a similar situation? And how did Serzone work for their dysthymia? Was it effective for a long period of time or did it eventually wear off? I mean I find myself having negative thoughts that are alot worse than I ever used to have and cant wait to get better.
