Hi Annie,
Have you tried halving your Remeron dose to 7.5? And as JohnL suggested, have you tried taking it earlier in the evening? The sedating effect really does wear off with time and often you will not see a real difference in your mood for a number of weeks. Taking it for just a few days isn't really a fair trial, IMHO. Have you talked with your doctor about all this?
That said, my doctor augmented my Remeron with Wellbutrin, starting with 100mg in the a.m. I was on 45 mg Remeron in the pm, and the Wellbutrin helped clear the morning cobwebs. Things got worse, Wellbutrin got doubled to 200 and then upped to 300.
Every time I increased the dose of Wellbutrin, I got edgy, irritable, my mind raced, etc. but that wore off, too. I got accustomed to the side-effects and endured them because I knew they would wear off over a couple of weeks. Ended up increasing Wellbutrin to the top dose of 400 (200mg in a.m. and 200mg at 3 pm) and reducing the Remeron to 15mg (about an hour before bedtime) and this combo seems to be working best.
There's also an psychobabble links page on Wellbutrin with all of the archived PB posts and other info off the web: http://www.egroups.com/links/psycho-babble-tips/Wellbutrin_SR_000963633280/
You'll find some excellent posts by Cam W. there. He da man when it comes to Wellbutrin. He da man anyway, but especially with Well.Good luck and take care.
