Bill,
I am touched by your implication of some of us being 'experts'. Believe me, I for one am no expert. There are some real experts among us. But I'm not one of them. I have unfortunately had more than my share of rough times, learned immensely from them, and hope to provide information that will allow someone else to reach recovery quicker than me.Based just on what you wrote in your post, I might pose a suggestion for thought that maybe hasn't been considered yet.
Dump the Paxil and the Trazodone. Replace them with Zyprexa. Keep the Adrafinil.
If Paxil at 40mg is "helping a little", as you say, then to me that suggests it's off target. It should be working better than a little. So if it's not, then it's probably not the correct choice for your particular chemistry.
I just don't like Trazodone. Some people do.
Zyprexa is a wonderful all-around wide spectrum medication with a strong potential to be much better for you than Paxil and Trazodone combined. Considering your symptoms, that is. Take Zyprexa in late afternoon or dinner and you'll sleep great.
If I could go back and do it all over again, that's what I would do. Dump the Paxil. Dump the Trazodone. Don't even bother with Buspar. Keep it on the back burner if all else fails. Go with Zyprexa, and add Adrafinil at your discretion as an option.
Sure all the medications you mentioned can be combined. I've heard of people with 5 or 7 wild meds in their cocktails. But why bother with all that when one or two superior meds could work even better?
