Nikki (there is something so seductive about that x) - Anyway, the rule of thumb with BCPs is that they begin to work within the 1st week, but during this time an alternate method of contraception should also be used.My last posting said 3 months before full protection and this harkens back to my college days in the late 1970s. I asked my wife about this (a public health nurse) and they still go by the 3 month rule. Perhaps it has something to do with hormonal adjustments, but more likely has to do with "old habits die hard". I don't know.
