Dear Carol,
Absolutely right - it's poison. I had a friend who suffered seizures because of it and know lots of people (myself included) whose migraine headaches are triggered by it - most times within 30 seconds of injestion! It is not allowed, in any form, in my home. Luckily, my husband agrees.
Parents beware: It is used now as the sweetener of choice in many children's chewable vitamins. If it says "no sugar," guess what you'll most likely find listed in the ingredients. Same goes for sugar free hot cocoa, etc., etc.
I read a really scary report about the dangers of Aspertame about eight years ago. I cannot believe it is still on the market.
Keep up the fight, Carol. God only knows the long term effect of just moderate use.
Karen
