I know that this is supposed to be a support group and not a forum for political argument. So, I hope that anyone with information can just point me in the right direction.
Harry's problems and the constant bother about getting medicines from overseas---particularly when doctors are unwilling to write scripts reminded me of the inanity of the current legal situation. NAMI has a lot to say about discrimination but almost nothing about the drug approval process. I think Adam said something about experience with the FDA from his job and how unreasonable they were. I know that a lot of AIDS activists pushed for special fast-track status and all that, but I wondered what groups were pushing for international harmonization and greater transparency at the FDA. I don't want to devote my life to this, but I do want to be able to register my disappointment that drugs like adrafinil and amisulpride aren't FDA approved, and I don't want to be given a condescending letter from my Congressman about the FDA's seal of approval being the gold standard. You know, the FDA is the most difficult, because U.S. consumers get the safest medicines.
