Hey V-man,

Funny you should post this on 6/14 ... saw them play Central Park that same day (just yesterday as I write). They did seven songs from Come On Now Social ... what surprised me a bit was that they did Virginia Woolf -- but then they had the violin player from Sheryl Crow's band as a guest to help cover the strings (along with the cellist they always have along and the keyboard player on the accordian (who happens to be the keyboard player on CONS and plays that wicked riff, if you can play a riff on an accordian, on Faye Tucker), which fit in quite well!). Emily took The Philosophy of Loss as her "solo" piece (a few in the band backed her) and Amy, of course, belted out Romeo & Juliet for her solo piece. And, of course, they played Closer To Fine. Joan Osborne, who moved into my former apt. building in Brooklyn right after I moved out, dammit, was also up on stage backing up on vocals for much of the night.

Told you you were on the wrong coast, Vesper. =^P

cheers,
bob
