Buspar?

I need to change my med cocktail somewhat--this one not working enough: effexor xr 375; synthroid and cytomel; ritalin sr 20 mg 2x/day; and serzone 225 in the evening.
One thought is to add buspar and eventually lower the effexor. I have heard buspar is mediocre as an anti-anxiety, but one doc I have consulted says he has seen good results with it as an AD augmenter.
I looked for some research on it, and found nothing. Any thoughts?
