Pain is a terrible thing which the buddhists differentiate from suffering which depends on how we deal with the pain. Our perception of the pain can make it much worse and intensify
the suffering.

Radical surgery such as trepination is just a bit much though and based on pretty specious theories. If you are in such intense pain you'd be better off checking out the vagus nerve stimulator which was discussed in some earlier posts.

Less radical and dealing with similar concepts to what trepination attempts to address is cranio-sacral therapy which is relatively wide spread, though also not fully accepted by all, but certainly by many more than trepination which is based on radical idiocy.

Dr. Andrew Weil wrote the following about cranio-sacral: "I've found cranial therapy to be extremely useful for a wide range of problems, from headaches to hyperactivity in kids, disturbed sleep cycles, and asthma. It works through very gentle pressure applied with the hands to the head. The aim is to free up restrictions in the movement of the cranial bones and allow the subtle natural rhythms of the central nervous system to express themselves in a balanced fashion.

There are many people today doing cranial therapy, also known as cranial-sacral therapy. But many don't have the kind of experience or training that Bob does. My preference is to get this therapy from a highly experienced osteopath.

Bob recently wrote a book called "Dr. Fulford's Touch of Life" (Pocket Books, 1997). I was glad to see it because Bob had always kept his philosophy to himself, simply letting the power of his hands tell the story of his work. There's some very practical information about vitality and good health in his book. His life and work have been a great inspiration to me, as I'm sure they'll be for others, too."
