Well, my current psychiatrist told me that substance P antidepressants are coming. They supposedly will be the next new med. However, I have inside information from a teaching hospital and was told by some credible psychiatry professors that there is some questioning of the efficacy of the substance-P, that the original hype about substance P was just that...hype. It may not pan out to be the great antidepressant it was made out to be during the late summer and early fall of 98.

I would like to know more myself, like to know how many more years it will be before substance P ADs are on the market. My guess is it will be 5 more years.

I would also like to know how many more years it will be before the CRF antagonists are on the market? Maybe 10 more years?

Hell, 10 more years and the neuroscientists will probably be tinkering around with the beginning stages of genetic engineering treatments for depression.

By that time, I will probably be dead. So for me, it probably wont matter anyway.
