I've struggled with severe social phobia and atypical depression (maybe also dysthymia) for the last 8 years and have constantly referred by psychiatrists in the UK to counsellors, group therapy, CBT etc. etc. etc which basically does not seemed to have helped much at all. I've also been on and off various drugs like fluoxetine, paroxetine, dothiepin, phenelzine and am currently on moclobemide which does help and has no side effects but I am far from where I want to be in terms of social anxiety and depressive moods. Does anybody know of a decent psychopharmacotherapist or just a doctor who is willing to experiment with combinations of drugs. All the doctors I've seen are reluctant to say the least to even use anti-depressants let alone things like clonazepam which I'm convinced I need.
If anyone out there has a good doctor in the UK who has experience with treating social anxiety and depression with drugs then let me know, I would be extremely grateful.Chris (UK)
