If Ambien is giving you trouble, ask your doctor about a new hypnotic, zaleplon (Sonata) from Wyeth-Ayerst. It's not supposed to cause sleep hangovers and it appears to improve overall sleep quality and amount of sleep. It does not cause withdrawal symptoms when discontinued. Terry
> I really think it was the pot! As a veteran of ambien (20 mg or more a night for one and a half years) and a pot smoker who quit because of a bad psychotic episode, the pot is worse. Ambien, at best recreational levels, will only induce mild visual changes, memory loss, and a mentally dreamlike state. I can't tell you how many times I've taken ambien only to stay up all night, although I contend it's the best sleep medicine. The combo could be bad however. Actually, I had taken some xanax before my pot episode (this was a bad, bad time, with time distortion and extreme sickness, thought I would die LITERALLY for two hours, couldn't walk or move or think...) and the xanax seemed to keep me from leaping out the window. Pot can have very psychadelic effects. I want to say it's a good drug, and that it should be legal, bad man did I have a bad trip! Even though I've smoked plenty in my life. It was too much, too fast. So don't underestimate it's potency, which obviously is variable.
