Reward Defecit Syndrom

Posted by Richard W on September 17, 1998, at 8:34:20

I have heard that there is some inclination to rename "addiction" to "Reward Deficit Syndrom" as it stems from a lack of dopamine receptors. A patient with this condiction is, thus, compelled to repeat any behavior which tends to stimulate the reduced number of receptors and thereby increase reward. Is there any truth to this concept?
