nowhere man

Posted by sleepygirl on May 30, 2005, at 14:46:22

I don't know who this man is
He rides a bicycle around town taking random pictures
Like a strange kind of movie
He's got a world all his own
Nowhere man, all alone
Is he homeless, no he's not
hangs around, smoking pot
He assaults the police,
vows to expose the injustice
Who's paying attention I wonder
I just manage a confused look on my face
I'm thousands of miles away
He never knew me, he never bothered
He's thousands of miles away,
and that's the way it stays

Thought provoking writing. Aren't we all "nowhere people" in some sense? Passing people in the street, or the mall, or the grocery store or even in the corridors at work, time after time, and not ever getting to know them or letting them get to know you. I often wonder about people that I see - are they happy? do they feel lonely? do they have a warm place to sleep and good food on the table? It makes me sad sometimes to think that someone does not even have their basic needs met on a daily basis.

But, perhaps your poem was about something a little closer to home.

He's the donator of half of my chromosomes, always been a bit bizarre, can't seem to understand what the heck his deal is, feels a bit surreal. Thanks for response, Take care.

((sleepygirl)) Didn't mean to pry. I can only imagine what it must feel like. Surreal is probably a good way to describe it.

I enjoy your writing. You take care, and keep writing.

thanks tamara,
You don't have to worry about prying. I wouldn't say it if I didn't think it was OK. Strangely enough, I sometimes wish I could talk about it. It's the big part of my life I never get to talk about. It's sort of a downer, and not fun party conversation. The anonymity here allows me a bit more freedom than usual. You are hereby forewarned that I may talk about or allude to uncomfortable/painful issues. It's OK, life's still good. I like your writing too. Take care.

No problem, no problem at all. Actually, writing is very therapeutic, as I am sure you already know. It's too bad you never get to talk about that part of your life IRL, but at least you can talk about it here, and will probably come across people who can relate. I agree, the anonymity makes is that much easier to get it out.

I'm glad that life is still good. That sometimes makes it a bit easier to deal with painful and uncomforable issues.

You take care.
