there is no freaking doubt about it anymore
I have not smoked any pot for like....a month now
and I am so preoccupied with obtaining it nowthe cravings are just a little less now, but really not much...
and the kicker of it is that the folks below me smoke pot, the person below them smokes pot, and I smell it all the time, but guess what! I can't get any!- I didn't start trying until last week
they might just be trying to drive me insane and they will likely succeedmany years ago I managed to stop after like a year of daily usage, and I think that's when I got into running or maybe not...I can't remember
partly cloudy (if you're reading) you sure had it right a while ago when you posted to me about needing to have something to do with my time in place of it
I am not planning on cutting it out of my life completely (if I can ever get my f'ing hands on it!!)
but I even I have to say that I was probably using it too much before
I really do have to think about something else
F*CK!

I wanna quit too. Read through the posts above and I feel for you, really do.
A month though? that's really good. I know it doesn't feel like it now, but there must have been times when you felt pleased with yourself for not smoking it?
I know how easy life seems when you're all warm and content and hazy, I've been doing it for too many years.
Thing is it's just too easy for me. I could conceivably carry on for ever. It's easy to get hold of (sorry!) got plenty of time on my hands. It's helped me through some bad times definately, but I feel like life could be so much more.

thanks nomis :-)
it really does help to hear someone relate
and yeah, I have been glad at times for not smoking
...but I'd really like the comfort.
occasional use would be nice, yeah life can be more
one problem I suppose is that I have often found life to be not much more than an endurance test, something that tests me to my limits with not much in return- I know life can be more, but it's not set up like that right now.
take care,
sid

obsidian, can't help you obtain marijuana, but if you truly believe you're an addict and addicted to marijuana do you really believe that you can use it in moderation? Or, after a brief period of moderate use, do you see yourself over-using marijuana again just like before? Also, what purpose does marijuana use have in your life? To relax, escape, numb out feelings, highten senses? If you could answer that question maybe you could find a safer, more appropriate (legally)alternative. Or maybe not. Anwar.

mmm...well, I guess there have been times when I have smoked occasionally...like when I was around certain people and they had it..I didn't "have to have" my own. It was so casual back then. no stressing about it. then I guess...now this was about 10 years ago, I started smoking it fairly regularly, but I don't remember being such a fiend about it. That lasted about a year. I don't remember having large amounts of it. I stopped. I don't even remember having problems with stopping (I'm sure I could've just forgotten!). I know I likely distanced myself from some friends who smoked a lot. I think I started running then?? Officially, I stopped because I went to therapy and got on psych meds.
now, about 10 years later..here I am. It all started very casually..some guy I know said, "you want some pot?" and I was like "ok, sure". I think to self "oh yeah, I've done that before.."
and so through a lot of last year I was buying pot, and then it became a regular thing. But now I am under a lot of chronic stress, am used to the relief of it, and missing it a lot.
People in my life seem to think it's not good for me. I think smoking it as much as I was wasn't good for me. I'd like some other coping skills.thanks,
sidPS I like this line from a song..."I used to do a little, but the little didn't do it, so the little got more and more"

Moderation. The famous roman emperor, Marcus Aurelius, said "...Anything in moderation, but nothing to excess..." I don't believe he was refering to drugs but it seems to me it has application/relevance here. Regards. Anwar.

Sid, having worked in the field AND having people around me using, I believe that when one starts using again (after quitting for any amount of time) they almost immediately are back at the place when they stepped off the train. I can't think of anyone that I know, or worked with, who could stay with moderation for long.
I have a friend who is the head of a department in a major college here and after he quit for 8 months (to see if the pot was the reason he was so ****ed up) and when he took it back up, he was right where he was when he quit using. He knows that his career could be on the line if the school finds out (his career is very important to him. he loves his teaching) that he is smoking. Yet, he can't cut back. I've been to his house and all at once he would be out of the conversation...he was falling asleep....that is how much he is using now.
Sid, I'm not assuming anything about your pot usage. I can only speak about my life experiences.

thank you, I do see it as honest concern :-)
I would love to not see the problems it causes me, sometimes I don't.
I recently relapsed after about 3 months of not smoking. I think I smoked for a week or two, just quit again friday, and I was back to the habit as I'd left it.
this time I gave away a lot of it...I guess some part of me didn't want it, and maybe I knew that when I got going again that I wasn't going to part with it.
thanks again for the post.. I'm trying to take care of myself, it's a challenge.

I'm glad that you gave some away. What do they say?"Out of sight, out of mind" :-) I don't know how true that is because I don't have to have the ice cream here to know that I really, really want a coke float.

Hi Guys
New to this forum I am 26 years old.
I have watched my dad and uncle (both weed smokers) try to quit for the whole of my life and they are still heavy users of this substance one would think that after going to prison because of that substance you would learn your lesson. That did not mean anything to my dad her still smokes and smokes heavily. I tried it for a few months my self and to be honest I DO not see why people go so crazy over this substance first of all it makes me completely stupid from bouts of laughing to uncontrollable eating and poor motor skills.
There was i time when i believed it made me smarter but that was a lie i told my self it only made me foolish. There are still times when i do feel for a smoke do not get me wrong but i keep reminding my self about my father and uncle and the many young persons who i see smoking around me and wasting there lives away to a drug that takes all.
This is the end of the thread.
